Guest guest
Dear Elaine, I am taking 40mgs of Tap and .125mcgs of Synthroid. I guess this is the B & R therapy. Can I go into remission doing this? Also, what labs should be run to tell if I am going to achieve remission. Jody had said something about antibodies. What is this test called? Thanks

Can I go into remission doing this? Anyone on drug treatment can go into remission just B & R is suppose to boost the odds. Guess the thyroid gets a vacation. > Also, what labs should be run to > tell if I am going to achieve remission. Jody had said something about > antibodies. What is this test called? Thanks I think TPO is the relevant antibody test, but my brain is fuddled at the moment. Most Graves patients have a suppressed TSH whilst being treated, and TSH returning to the normal range is suppose to be an indicator of remission starting, but I think more usually it is a sign of overtreatment with drugs For me this is all theory - never had remission so take it with a grain of salt. Guest guest
Hi , You are on block and replace therapy and the drugs help keep your thyroid and antibody levels down. You need the TSI antibody test to help tell when you're in remission. The level should be normal when you're in remission. Otherwise when you quit the drugs, the hyperthyroidism will return. Take care, Elaine
