Guest guest
This is a copy of the letter I sent today to ASHRAE in response to the activities of the committee who voted to lower the ventilation rates for airplanes with NO scientific data to support their decision. If you are also troubled by this, please write to them. http://www.ashrae.org/ RE: Standard for Air Ventilation Aboard Commercial Aircraft Dear Sirs: I am deeply troubled, not only at the change of this standard, but at the total lack of supporting scientific data to support such a decision. Obviously, competing interests are not well balanced on this committee, since public health and welfare are taking a back seat to airline profits. This scurilous action may be a Pyrrhic victory at best, when applying these diminished ventilation rates led to numerous costly lawsuits by travelers damaged by this insufficient and unhealthy standard. The saddest part of this entire travesty is that ASHRAE, who's reputation for scientific and impartial research has been a example for over a century, is being tarnished by the activities of a few politically motivated few who put their personal goals above the safety and well-being of the traveling public. If you allow these activities to go unchallenged, you tarnish years of excellent work and research and diminish your own good name. Sincerely, Barbara Herskovitz
