Guest guest
Great update on Jim: We just returned late last night from a fun weekend cuddling the grandboys in Arizona, having arrived there early Friday evening… straight from clinic at USC, where the doctor spent barely more than 5 minutes with us, bright & early in the morning. He entered the examination room & announced Jim’s 2nd set of labs were normal!!! “So we can cancel the liver biopsy recommended due to suspected return of PSC?” Jim finally had to ask. “Oh, yes, there’s no need for that now” was the doctor’s reply, adding (to our question) that there was no need to do anything less invasive, either – like an ultrasound of Jim’s/’s liver – in a quest to possibly find it in a fatty state. Jim & I barely had time to pose one or two last questions as to whether or not fatty liver was the culprit for this recent scare (culprit = recent alarming spike in Jim’s Alk Phos, and upwardly-creeping labs overall), 50 lb weight gain (since Jim’s pre-tx days when he ended up skin & bones & ascites prior to the transplant 4 & 2/3 years ago), coupled with his recent weight loss & exercise regimen as the reason for improvement in his labs. The doctor said he just couldn’t be sure… …but I’m sure, & Jim is inclined to agree. And what’s more, we’re both rejoicing at yet another dodged bullet. For me personally, this means Catbert & co will be far less intrusive into our lives (read that: my life!), after Jim shares the good news with his family at work today. With love to the group, Maureen & Jim
