hey, its me Amy again. just wondering if there's anyone in the uk

having it done. my surgeons name is Mr P Whitfield - does anyone have

him or has anyone had him before?!!? i'll be having the op in York is

there anyone in the area who is in the same position as me

please reply!!!!!!!!!! loads of my mates at school are really putting

me off and sayin that i shouldn't have it done - what should i do? i

am really worried even though its 2 years away but from september

(the final decision) i can't go back!

You're gonna have to figure out how to live with the fact that your

school chums do not know as much as your doctors and dentists -- and

if push comes to shove, to tell your friends that!

It is hard for many people, because so many folks have no

comprehension of this surgery, nor of the problems it can

prevent/solve.

There are quite a few folks in the UK on the board -- I'm in Alabama -

- but I don't know about York... Seems to me Kat may have been from

York, but I could be confusing it.

In any case, just figure out that your pals are ignorant (I hope they

are not being intentionally cruel). Maybe it's sort of like the folks

who want to tell pregnant ladies horror stories about labor and

delivery, I dunno. I do think these procedures are fairly new, and

not as well known as, say, rhinoplasty or appendectomies or the like.

And we're here for you. That helped me a lot.
