I believe he's saying super-samatis resistance. I thought at first about

supraspinatus, but he's saying it pretty clearly.

And he is saying " weakness and giving away " .

thanks!

All of you are right. Forgive me for questioning you! As I listened on at the

end he says it is probable rotator cuff tear. He is just not enunciating it

very well. What a surprise, eh?

Thanks for all of your help.

Okay, the drop-arm test is correct, per Stedman's Ortho. Could the next one

be supraspinatus resistance? Also, I usually hear give-way or giving way,

not giving away, but that's just my docs.

HTH!! :o)

Probably supraspinatus. See if you actually hear giving away or giving way.

Giving way would be more correct. HTH :)

Suzanne,

That's gotta be supraspinatus. The drop arm test and the muscle tests are the

two primary tests for a torn rotator cuff, which the supraspinatus is the usual

culprit.

Here's something I found on Google regarding the drop-arm test. Even though

I documented it in Stedman's Ortho, I still didn't know what it was or why

it was performed. On the web page, scroll down a little and you'll see

where things are highlighted, which is what I searched under.

Re: Ortho again today

He is referring to resistance. Would that still be supraspinatus?
