I read this and immediately thought of Mick Jagger lol! And like Wendi

said, when you look down at your baby nursing you should see some of his

tongue sticking out toward the corner of his mouth.

I had some similar issues with my first baby. He was given bottles in NICU

and would scream, etc at breast. If it hurts, he is not latching on

correctly. He should have 1 1/2 - 2 inches of breast tissue in his mouth

(back to just before his palate becomes soft) and his lips should look like a

blow fist- flanged out once on the breast. It should not hurt once you heal.

Have you been checked for thrush? With the anitbiotics he got and perhaps

you got, you may be dealing with thrush too. Keep us posted.

Suski,

Pulling the chin down for a wide open mouth helps position better, and you

can also have your son suck on your finger (nail side down) until he pulls

it back in his mouth and his jaw relaxes before latching him on. I think

that last might be referred to as suck training.

Now for your discomfort, try tylenol or motrin type painkiller of your

choice. Once ds is latching right your nipples will just need time to get

used to being used. It could take a couple of weeks to fully adjust.

Hang in there,

Amy Lynn
