Unfortunately there's not much you can do about it. It's not so much water

retention as fluid retention. Sounds about the same, I know, but it's not

quite. It's largely due to the fact the

hypo metabolism is so slowed down that nothing is moving through the body very

quickly. I'd try all the edema solutions anyway, such as drinking lots of

water (always a good idea) and getting

some regular exercise, even if it's just some walking (ditto).

Years ago, in a group discussion on the dilemma of not looking as bad as we

felt, we discussed using some pale grey/green face makeup, just enough so that

our appearance would make it clear that

we're not really fine. Maybe it's time to put that idea to a test. You might

still scare off your colleagues and clients, but at least they'd know you're

under the weather, and not just puffy

;-)
