Guest guest
I don't even qualify as a newbie yet since I haven't even ordered my course. But, I was wondering if the " pool " you are reffering to means that you can work as many or as few hours as you need to within a certain range? For example, if you have some bills pop up and you are only a part-timer can you maybe work 30 hours that week instead of 20? Re: MedQuist > Hi all - and thanks for all the well wishes!! I'll see if I can answer your questions in one post! > > To Carol - I did my training here at home by phone. It took awhile to get all the equipment (rental from MedQuist) and get it all set up, like nearly 2 months, or say, 6 weeks, but I finally got it all! They sent me some avi's to look at on my computer, and they take you through the MTShell softward and the transcription part. It's really pretty self-explanatory that way. But talking with someone by phone helped, too, since I could ask questions and actually make the moves myself on the computer. The avi just shows you, you don't get to actually do it, so it's a little different. > > Quixote, I don't know what NTP is, but I'm working out of the Denver CO office. When I first signed up with them, I was going through an office in my region, but at that time they had very little work, so they transferred my info to Denver. Things slacked off during Christmas, so there wasn't a lot of work then, but she told me by the end of this week things would pick up again. I have 3 hospitals that I am assigned to, and I dial into the MedQuist system and pull dictations out of the " typing pool " in the computer system. > > Oh, Gail! (enigma) - we are co-workers, then I guess!! As I said above I'm with the Denver office. Those folks are SO helpful and very patient with a newcomer! Fortunately, this system is VERY much like one I worked with before on a more local level, but the Dictaphone and typing " pool " work the same way! I started to plunge in with no training and just pick it up myself, but after waiting for the headset to come and then calling for another training date and the trainer being off the day I had hoped for, I thought " what the heck " and just waited until the day after Christmas. My understanding is you can't change your employment status except in Jan and June, and I can't leave my other job yet, so I guess it will be June before I can switch. So that gives me plenty of time to get my ducks in a row and work up to full time. I am self-supporting, or I would just GO now!!
