Guest guest
I have a 4 1/2 year old son who tested positive on 1 of the blood tests for CD. (I can't remember the description, but it is supposedly 97% accurate as a cd indicator). We have also had the biopsy, stool testing and various enzyme tests. All were normal. 's only symptom is very loose stools practically from the day he was born. Our pediatrician suggests 2-3 months of GF to see if stools improve, if so live GF. My question is this, are there lots of people who have normal test results and still are advised to go GF? Can a peson have a true food allergy that will appear like CD, and can an allergist test for food allergies? I hate to turn his food world upside down, but I don't want to have potential damage occuring either. Does anyone know if you can be allergic to some grains or other foods and have intestinal issues mimmicking cd? I'm trying to get the name of a good allergist if we decide to go that route, but I also don't know if I'm just in denial about CD. I'll do whatever is best for , but I sure would like some really straight answers from someone. Anyone else experience this type of situation? He'll start kindergarten in the fall and I need to get this under control so we don't have any potty problems in school, and if I need to go to the school with doctors diagnosis for the sect 504 (I think) protection/asssitance.
