Guest guest
Tonight I made Bette Hagman's Apple Spoon Pudding from her " The Gluten Free Gourmet makes Dessert, " on pg. 257. I used the featherlight mix. It has chopped apples in a soft, sweet bready base, and lots of cinnamon. The recipe turned out well, and according to DH was much like a wheat version of this kind of soft bread pudding typre recipe, but it just wasn't our kind of thing- too bready, if that makes sense. I would give it a 5, and DH gave it a 6 (out of 10). But, if this was your kind of dessert and something you remembered from childhood, you would probably rate it a lot higher. I liked the skillet apple pie recipe I posted a week or two ago a lot better. (adapted from a gluten recipe I found online).
Guest guest
I’d love to see all of these recipes posted – they sound great. It tasted just the original version. I've actually had really good luck lately adapting old family recipes for special occassions into gluten free. I've done Grandmas Cheesecake, the apple cake, and Chicken Paprika in the last few weeks. If anyone is interested I can post the recipes later. My daughter is having an " I stayed up too late " meltdown - got to go intervene Bette Hagman dessert review > Tonight I made Bette Hagman's Apple Spoon Pudding from her " The Gluten > Free Gourmet makes Dessert, " on pg. 257. Guest guest
I could never say no to cheesecake! do share! I agree, a lot of gluten desserts really can be easily adapted. Just not fancy things like cinnamon rolls or, sigh, puff pastry. I've actually had really good luck lately adapting old family > recipes for special occassions into gluten free.
