Guest guest
Hey , Isn't it exciting to get the go-ahead to eat real food? " Anything you want " is one of those relative concepts since what I *really* want is a carrot stick. :-) I'm not a fried-rice fan, but I've done steamed rice lots of times since the surgery. (especially with Indian food--lots of nice soft foods available on the lunch buffets!) In the eating schedule that my surgeon gave me, it says that you can start eating " soft rice dishes " between days 10 & 28. Sounds like fried rice to me. For 4 to 8 weeks postop, it says (in part) that " chewing can be attempted. The food must be initially soft, progressing into softer meats such as hamburger and soft chicken....Soft fish dishes are also excellent. " I was at the hamburger stage right at about the 4-week point (cut with a knife and fork of course). These days I'm eating lettuce-and- tomato salads (carefully of course) and last night I snacked on raw snap peas (broken into teeny tiny small pieces). Eating those veggies was so very satisfying! Another thing I'm enjoying is all that nice summer fruit we've been having. Fresh raspberries and blueberries, cherries, nectarines... So good and I know it's soft enough to be " safe. " As for whether my surgeon would think I was being smart by eating the snap pea pieces? I dunno. I didn't ask. My jaw didn't hurt afterward, nor the next morning. I don't see him again until 7/23 and I'll ask him then. Rhonda > > Hi, > > > > i'm 18 days post op from lower/genio.
