If you use Prometheus, they will run a celiac panel. If it comes back negative or inconclusive, they will automatically do gene testing. My pediatrician was fine with doing testing, but balked at using Prometheus. After I told her my GI had used it for me, she agreed to investigate further. After talking to my GI and a ped GI, she agreed to use it too. --Trudy San , CA "People who believe in absurdities will eventually commit atrocities." ~Voltaire -------------- Original message -------------- Sometimes you just have to insist. My daughter is almost 2 and has been having tummy troubles for the last month. Her pediatrician referred us to a gastroenterologist but said that he didn't think they would test her for celiac. Her daddy has celiac so there is certainly a possibility that she has it too. I would rather know sooner rather than later so that we can modify her diet before it does damage. Guest guest
Oh, definitely. Your hospitals lab cannot test for this. If they tell you the results will be back in a day or so, freak out. It should take more like 10 days bc they will have to send it out (there are only 5 labs in the entire country that do this analysis accurately/reliably) You can't request a specific lab, most hospitals will have a contract with a specific lab. As long as it's one of the five (Mayo Clinic in MN is one) then it's ok.
