Guest guest
Amy, Yes that does make sense about the fertility drugs. My RE had told me they do see a slightly higher % of ep in infertility patients. But when I heard that about the HCG shot it got me wondering because I didn't have any risk factors for having an ep and I thought maybe? that could have been what happened. But I will ask him when I see him in May. Thank you for putting my mind at ease because that would have drove me batty until I see him. Guest guest
Sheila I have never heard of that. I have been on fertility drugs myself. I was on Clomid when I had my ep. I have also done injectables. But it turns out that I have adhesions all over my tubes. Pam

Guest guest
Sheila, This might be what you heard...when women use fertility drugs or are under ovulation induction they have a higher % of ep than the general population, but it isn't because they do something to your tube, it is because you have more eggs released and therefore more chances to have an ep than someone ttc naturally. Does that make sense? I don't know about the HCG shot doing anything though...seems to me a shot of HCG if you were already pg wouldn't hurt things too much and by the point you took the HCG the embryo would have already traveled out of the tube if it ever was going to make it to the uterus. Let us know what the RE says when you get to see him in May. -AMyr
Guest guest
Hi , Follistrim is an injectable. See that was what my ep was deemed a " fluke " . I guess in one way it is good BUT on the other hand it is a little disenchanting and I think now I am thinking more about it because of wanting ttc in the summer. When I go to my RE in May I want to ask him about having a Folloscope( I hope I spelled that right? lol!)done to check my cilia. Maybe they are messed up yet I don't see why I have never had infections, STDs, multiple sex partners etc. I think now that I have overcome my fear of ttc now all these other things pop in. Thanks for listening. Sheila
Guest guest
Hi Sheila, What is follitrism--is it like clomid or injectibles? I don't believe the process of ovulation induction or HCG shots actually causes anything to happen with the tube. But I do think that the group of women that are are treated for fertility problems (me included) are in a higher-risk category for eps in the first place (due to age, previous infection, etc.). It is hard not being able to identify why you had an ep, isn't it? I'm hoping mine was a fluke, but I guess I won't be sure of that until I have a uterine pregnancy. Hope you get some answers when you see your dr.

Guest guest
Hey Sheila, Me too. When I was in college, a clamydia test was standard in the annual exam, and I never had it. Then I read an article about a month ago saying that lots of clamydia infections aren't detected by the tests. So who knows--it is really hard not having an explanation for why this happened to us. I had never heard of a folloscope. Is it a type of surgery to look at the cilia? My HSG showed by tubes are clear, but I do worry that something might be wrong with the cilia. Who would ever think we'd ever be worried about hairs in our fallopian tubes. Eeh gads!
