I think both Estee Lauder and Clinique are made by the same company,

and there is definitely gluten is some Clinique lipsticks - I found

one that contained both hordein (from barley) and wheat protein (i.e.

gluten), and also a little soy protein to really make it toxic.

This stuff is supposed to be make-up, not snack food!

I've never had any luck with lipstick and I've tried just about every

well-known brand. My lips burn and peel and something about the smell

of it makes me sick. It never occurred to me it might be from gluten.

The one brand I have had no trouble with at all is manufactured by

Mojave Magic. It is great. I received it as part of a make up kit from

QVC. Until I tried it I just never bothered with the stuff.

I'd be curious to know what brands anyone else uses regularly with

success.

In the past, I have used Cover Girl, Beauticontrol (definitely gluten

free, at least at the time i was using it), avon, Burt's bees (the chap

stick glosses), and Philosophy. I am currently using mostly Philosophy

yummy red, which i love. I also really like Burt's Bees. There is

nothing obviously gluten free in these, but I haven't checked on their

gluten free status. However, I have never had any problem with lip

gloss or stick (I have to admit I'm more of a natural colored gloss

kinda girl than a lip stick girl) I do read the labels and avoid

anything with wheat germ oil.

It seems possible that negative reactions to lip sticks could be

related another allergy, like say to soy or other common irritants, so

it may not be a gluten issue. But, always good to keep an eye on that

ingredient list! :)

BTW, there was a typo here, i said there was nothing obviously gluten

free, but what i meant was there was no obvious GLUTEN in them. LoL.

Hope you all knew what I meant ;)

The last time I checked with Colgate, they said all their toothpastes

are GF. Blue Listerine is, too, according to the company.
