Guest guest
Hi , Jody, is right, you should be checked by an ophthamologist because you could be showing signs of the eye disease. I have the eye disease and I would certainly check it out to make sure. I look like that every morning. LOL! at least now I know what I will look like when I get old. Anyways, they look like that first thing every morning, but it gets better as the morning goes on. I don't know why, but first thing after I wake I look horrible. Debbie R. My eyelids are puffy and and under my eyes the bags look like I haven't slept for a week!!! And I did sleep and slept well. Any thoughts on this? Guest guest
Hi , Do you have allergies on top of graves? I know my allergies and the heat have made me wake up like that the last 3 mornings. Guest guest
Hi , Have you seen an ophthamologist for a baseline reading? That is something I think we all should do as soon as we are diagnosed with GD If you are showing signs of the eye disease, you may want to get a couple of bricks and elevate the head of your bed by putting one under each side of the headboard. This keeps a lot of swelling down. Guest guest
Jody, Is it possible to have hypo symptoms when still hyper but going more to the hypo side? Do your body's cells just get used to a higher level and then, maybe, when the levels drop respond in a hypo fashion? Just a thought to maybe help explain this. I seem to be having symptoms of both. Guest guest
Hi Laurel, The symptoms for hyper and hypo cross over the lines and can show up in either list...heart palps come with hypo too, as does more hair loss, and my eyes when I am hypo get really bad, no matter that the ptu is helping...crazy disease with a mind of it's own, no rhyme, no reason... Guest guest
Laurel - Exactly! Elaine explained it to me one day and it really did make a lot of sense. Your body gets " used " to being at a certain level, so when you experience a change in thyroid levels, the body interprets that change even though you may still be hyper. So if you were at a hyper level and then the levels decrease, you can experience " hypo " symptoms even though you are still technically hyper according to your lab values. I have experienced first hand, as have many others, and it is kind of freaky how the body interprets these little changes in hormone levels! I just had it happen last month. I could have sworn I was hypo - terrible joint pains, soooo cold, tired, etc. But when I got my labs, I was in normal range for everything. The big change was my TSH went from being .01 for almost a year to being .91 in about a 6 week period! Felt that one - ouch! If that's what a taste of hypo is like, I don't want to go there! It can work the other way, too. If you're at a lower level and then they increase, you can feel " hyper " even though you aren't. Makes you long for a quick stabilization, doesn't it? Guest guest
Thanks . That approach does explain a lot. I'd settle for any stabilization. After three years quick is out of the question. I thought that RAI is justified, in part, by the fact that its supposed to be " easier " to stabilize. Laurel Re: puffiness > >Hi , >Do you have allergies on top of graves?
