When are you going in for surgery? I am scheduled for July 23. I am

still working on storing enough milk for the post-op bottles. I also

have a couple of containers of formula if needed. My doctor swears

that I can get in enough nutrician for the both of us. Are you still

taking vitamins? My OB suggested taking childrens liquid vitamins

until I can swallow pills again.

I had thyroid surgery when my son was 8 months old and had decided if

I had to wean him after, I was okay with that. I think my body heard

that and decided against it because it went into production overdrive.

Hope all goes well with you. If you need to talk post op, hopefully

I'll be here.

LOL!!! Isn't that the truth!

He will be 3 months and 8 days when I have surgery (August 5th)They

made me wait until I gave birth to schedule the surgery. I was

scheduled to have it last Sepetember when we found out about boy #4,

talk about a shock!

Hi , good luck with your upcoming surgery. Mine is scheduled for

August 5th. I feel like I have enough fat storage to feed a small

country( not really but maybe a small island!LOL ) so I am not too

worried about getting enough nutrition but will also use liquid

vitamins. My ped didn't seem to be concerned with it. I am still on

prenatals now.

Of course, it's always worth doing! Both my babies weaned themselves

at 6 months and I was so sad when my son quit nursing because I knew

that would be the last time... Anyway, you should be fine on tylenol,

if that. I was surprised at how little pain there was after a few

days. I quit all pain killers after day 4 or 5. Just watch your baby

for signs of drowsiness if you breastfeed soon after surgery. It may

take a few " pump and dumps " to really get it all out. You know, I

can't think of anything more therapeutic than breastfeeding - you'll

probably have a record-fast stellar recovery!

Good luck!

Thanks , It's good to know someone else was able to do it. I

was starting to fear that Shiloh was just Superwoman. I had surgery

when my son was still nursing and I had the same problem with the

milk. By the time I was able to pump, I thought I was going to

explode. It looked like I had had a boob job, not thyroid surgery.

It was so depressing throwing it away. How soon did you go back to

nursing after the surgery. With that last surgery I pumped and

dumped for like a week, but I was a little obsessive/compulsive. I

also had a huge supply frozen. I am hoping to start back sooner with

my daughter.

=wow two self weaners at six months!

That is so early no wonder you were sad.

=actually I think the growth hormones may have helped, however I did

also notice most of my pregnancy hair fell out at once...
