Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Hope you had a great labor day! Here's a question I'm hoping someone can advise me on. Had surgery 4/9, weighed 232 lbs. Now September 5th, I weigh 160 lbs for a grand loss of 72 lbs. Not that I'm complaining, but I'm wondering if I could be doing something better since a lot of you have lost a lot of weight in such a short period. I do drink all my water, I exercise (walk 3 miles every other day, do stair master and lift weights), and I eat more protein than anything else. You would think with all my hair loss that would have taken off 5lbs but itself - LOL! Another thing I notice (sorry guys) is that right after my period, I drop 4 lbs - and I don't gain before. Can you believe I actually look forward to my monthly? Any advice is appreciated. TIA,
Guest guest
Hi ! You have done FANTASTIC sweetie! Remember that everyone's body is different, from beginning to end. Some of us that started at a much higher weight to begin with often times lose more in the beginning, but it tapers off similar to those who didn't have as much to lose. I think that it all works out to be about the same " ratio " type of thing. I'm NO GOOD with percentages at all (flunked math often!), but I know that you having lost 72 lbs. in 5 months is a ton of weight per month, meaning that you'll have a much better chance in maintaining in the long run! Please, don't compare yourself to others, it's just a number, and this is our long life commitment that we will all wind up being the exact same in the long run! We'll have ALL lost weight, ranging from 80+ lbs. to hundreds, point being, it will have worked for all at different rates! Make any sense what-so-ever? Hugs! Dawn Weight Loss - How can I do better? Guest guest
Jaimie... I always dropped after my period... unfortunately that has stopped. Personally I think it's the amtount you need to lose. I started at 250 and too forever to break the 70ish mark. My loss has slowed down trememndously. It took me like 7 months to lose 2 pounds to hit 100. Mu body seems to be very comfortable at this weight. So I need to be patient ! Guest guest
Hi, I hear where you're coming from. We all want the weight off quickly. I too was concerned when I had only a 2 pound drop my 5th week thinking Oh my God, it is going to get lower and lower. I have found that is not necessarily so. This is not a diet but a new way of life. It isn't like anything we have done before. I have come to realize that the following week you could double the weight loss from the previous week. One other thing that I think is awesome is that when I've had a hungry day I am afraid to weigh myself thinking I will have gained because I ate more than usual. But now what I don't think about is that more than usual still means so little. This is a past phobia. Not once(and I hope it stays this way) have I gained any weight when I step on the scale. The weight is bound to come off of us. You could have a month of losing 10 pounds and the next lose 20. Don't panic yet. Donna

Guest guest
Thank you to everyone who responded. I know I should look at the percentage - and I am thrilled!! It's funny, too because I still wear the same clothes from before surgery - stretchy jeans and big shirts - and I think I look fine - but other people think I look like a ragamuffin! My sister even begged me to buy some new bra's since my other ones weren't really doing the job anymore (which I did break down and buy some new ones) - 2 cups and 8 inches smaller! LOL! So to summarize, I think my head has to catch up with the rest of my body. People tell me when I haven't seen them for awhile how good I look and I have a hard time believing them. Well, now I'm going to start believing! Continued success to everyone!

Guest guest
Oh does it ever take some time for our heads to catch up to our bodies. I think we all still look in the mirror and see the heavy person where a much lighter one stands. So just keep telling yourself how much you've done in such a short time and how great you are doing and visualize where you are going. I can't speed up the mind/body process for you but I highly recommend going to try on some new clothes. I know losing that much weight is guaranteeing you are going to be in some new sizes which will make you feel and look much better. Treat yourself to a new bra, new clothes. You'll be glad you did Lyssa __________________________________________________
