Guest guest
Hi Kendall, Sorry to hear you're having a rough day today with the power outage etc. As for being homebound, why? After the first week, I got myself dressed, packed my dry erase board, a bottle of water, can of Boost and a syringe and I was out the door. Luckily we live downtown, so I would walk to the mall - I even did some shopping. It was quite funny trying to communicate, as every sales person wants to chat with you, but once I whipped out the dry erase board to scribble, some turned and ran, others spoke to me as though I was mentally challenged, and some were quite nice. So bottom line is, yes you may be a bit bruised, puffy and unable to speak, but you don't have to be a hermit as well. If you feel strong enough to go out for a bit, then go out! Happy trails, Janine

Guest guest
Hi Kendall, I remember being in the same situation as you, and I just made myself get out of the house. It can be a little awkward when you have to ask something if you're wired together, but take a small notepad and pen with you if you feel like people won't understand you. If you feel well enough, I suggest going out to see a movie, just to get out of the house! You only have to worry about asking for the ticket, but if you explain your situation, people are pretty understanding and patient. I used to go out for coffee in little cafes and drink it through a straw! You look like a bit of a goose, but I just thought people would think I was an eccentric... Hang in there! Things get better soon enough, make the most of the rest and relaxation! Cheers Ginger Beating the Boredom So still after 2 weeks and 1 day i havent really been out of the house yet (well, except for going to the doctors) and i have found myself getting insanely bored! I have painted my nails...err..nubs...well, not so nubby any more because i can't bite my nails any more...and i have watched soo much television and read 4 different books..and before today have been on the internet WAAAY too much. But unfortunately, after a power-outtage because of lightning storms, i no longer have the internet on my computer...now it's only on my father's computer which is in the little " apartment " connected ot my house...which is unairconditioned. So without the internet..i am going bonkers. I know that i am not the only person that is struggling with boredom. Soo..anybody have any suggestions to make myself and others a little less bored? Sorry this message was sort of pointless...but hey..i'm bored! Kendall

Guest guest
Really good advice. And interacting with other folks will help your spirits, too. Guest guest
Hey, i havent been too bored because i live with my partner, plus my mum came over from inter state for the first week and then my sister came for the second week, but you should still try to get out. I started going for walks and to shops at around 2 weeks, walking really helps with swelling because it gets your blood moving around your body. It also helps with boredom! Maybe at first make sure someone is with you in case there is trouble, and dont venture too far from home! Also maybe play some board games or go to the video shop and rent some movies! good luck jaimi ps: you should see how much my nails have grown too!!! > So still after 2 weeks and 1 day i havent really been out of the house > yet (well, except for going to the doctors) and i have found myself > getting insanely bored! Guest guest
Have you read the Harry Potter books? It can kill lots of time and is incredibly entertaining. I have already read all five and am in the process of rereading them all. > So still after 2 weeks and 1 day i havent really been out of the house > yet (well, except for going to the doctors) and i have found myself > getting insanely bored! Guest guest
I second that! My son (11) and I are reading them together. He's on book 3 and has finally convinced me to start. (I'm on book 1) So far it's pretty good. Enjoy! > > So still after 2 weeks and 1 day i havent really been out of the > house > > yet (well, except for going to the doctors) and i have found myself > > getting insanely bored!
