Hello and welcome to the group.

10 months is not to late to receive good correction in a helmet or

band. I noticed that flattening of my son's head around the 4 month

mark as well. I brought it up to his pedi ; but got the " it will round

out speech " . We started helmet theraphy when my son was 8 months old -

we expereinced a few bumps in the road - with an inexperienced helmet

provider. Finally at the age of 13 months my son received his first

Docband from Cranial technologies. He has seen good correction for a

toddler his age. He is now 18 1/2 months and soon to graduate from his

second band.

So to answer your question, no its not to late. However, if you choose

to have your child helmeted/banded..you should act quickly because the

older a infant/toddler gets..there head growth slows down - they may

have to spend more time in the helmet/band.

Cranial technologies also offers free consultations,

www.cranialtech.com.

They will give you a very honest free second opinion.

Hope this helps, keep us posted on how everything goes

Hi!

We also started treatment 'late' in the scheme of things! Sophie

was 9 months when she was scanned and almost 10 months when we got

the helmet. It has only been two weeks and we think we are starting

to see correction! Her big problem was the ear offset of 13.2mm.

And, the forward ear really stuck out, too!! The rounding is

getting better. Our ortho did say that Sophie has a large 'soft

spot' still and that makes for lots of room for growth and shaping.

If you decide to get a band, don't wait any longer!! The sooner you

start, the sooner you can kiss that nice round head!!!

Good luck!

Hello! We actually bumped into a dad at the mall last night who saw

our daughter in her STARband and started talking to us about

plagiocephaly. Apparently his son had plagiocephaly and was put in the

STARband at 15 months. The little guy was running around us as we

spoke and his head looked great. The dad said his case was very severe

and he had ear and eye misalignment too. I would have never know when

looking at him- and we all know how much us moms look at babies heads.

So my advice is thaqt 10 months is definately not too late!

Thanks for writing me back so quickly. It's good to hear that

someone else started at a later age. What did they say was the

prognosis for correction? They were telling us 50-70% correction.

Also, how is she does she tolerate wearing the helmet? Did she get

used to it pretty quickly?

Thanks again for your help
