Yes and the card was good until August the 26th and this was the 28th which you always have a 5 day grace period to get the payment in. So I guess the police officer ASSUMED that the new cards were on the way to the people. I have tried to call the officer twice and he has been off, but, tommorrow I am calling and asking if he can issue a ticket to these people because they for sure do NOT have insurance

Most insurrance companies don't leave it to chance and send out cards way in advance, we get ours several weeks in advance. That is something he should have been aware of as they should be put in the car ahead of time, but then some people have forgetful minds.

this girl had no license, talking on the cell phone and NOT paying attention to her driving, then on top of everything else no insurance. I just can not find sympathy for her. At 20 years of age theres only 2 reason as to why she probably does not have license and thats either she could not pass the test, or, she had them at one time and maybe had them taken away, regardless what the reason is ..no license then no driving. (unless it is an absolute emergency) Thats just irresponisible. I am sure glad no harm came to you and I am glad you are doing ok now. Things like that which happen is through no fault of yours. You had no control over a medical condition. Tahnk God it turned out the way it did. Love Pepper wrote

It would be doing her a favor to set in jail for a while to think it over before she does something behind that wheel that the people left behind will hurt over. Three years ago this month our grandson, had had his license suspended for various reasons. he and his wife had a fight, they had been drinking, she got out of the car. he sped away then went home to get his Mother and brother out of bed to go back and get

her they didn't move fast enough so he left without them. When they got there she had called her father he in turn called the police. when the grandson saw the police he fled the scene knowing he would go to jail as he was on probation. His family followed as the police chased him. He was going so fast he didn't make a slight curve crashing into a gas pump killing him instantly setting the station and car on fire he burned with it. His parents are now paying for the car, the station, he didn't get to see the baby they were going to have.

Yes, thank God it turned out the way it did. A lot of people have never been the same since.

Just like you said, my husband and I went from a 2 income family to a one income and our lifestyle has changed drastrically BUT we still have insurance to protect us and to protect anyone that we may cause damge to from our mistakes if and when we do make one.

We retired, were still working, my husband worked on small engines I with day care in our home. Then he became ill and we went total social security no fun but we still pay for insurance. Our social security isn't in the higher bracket either.

Pepper, we've had to turn our situation over to our insurance company. We have to pay the deductible, but they told us they would be in contact with the other insurance company, and will go after their drivers license if need be and will get our deductible back for us too. There is no telling the $$ damage to our car.....will find out soon hopefully . We finally got it in a shop today. It still has not had an adjuster to look at it but we were told to go ahead and take it to the shop.

After all that has been on the news however about the hurricane victims, it seems so small compared to what these families have lost. They've lost homes, cars, families, jobs, everything. Our church will be providing one home and trying to help in other ways too. I'm going to get out in my garage tomorrow and try to sort through things I was saving for a garage sale, and find a place to donate clothes, etc.

Like one of the ladies interviewed on the news today....we don't appreciate what we have until we lose everything. She said she a totally different perspective of life etc. after the hurricane.

Pepper, GET A LAWYER. They work on a contingency basis. It will not cost you anything. I am not one of those people who advocate sue everybody for everything but in this case you were injured, your new car was severely damaged and you are so inconvenienced. Not to mention their lack if insurance and no drivers license. The insurance companies will drag it out forever and they will be protecting their interests not yours.

Unfortuneately I do not have the money to get a lawyer and a lawyer is not going to go after someone that can not even afford to have a phone much less insurance. I if had the money I would because I feel like if they can afford a TAHOE they should be able to afford the insurance. I guess I will just have to make do with what I can do. My daughter got hit by a driver running a red light a couple of months ago, and he didn't get a ticket either!!! Then to top it off the insurance wouldn't pay the full amount because they said she didn't look before pulling out, she told them yes I did, I saw the guy coming but assumed he would stop because his light was red ...jeez, I would have thought that too. Even my little Grandson knows that red means stop.
