when i preregistered...same time as preop tests.. i asked for a private

room...i had to pay the extra $30.00 per day...i have bc/blue shield..they

pay for a semi private room only...

i was happy i chose to do this, as i was in the hospital for 2 extra days. it

was hard enough sleeping because of the meds, pain and contstant stream of

nurses checking vitals, that i think i would have went nuts if i had to HEAR

all the same thing for a roommate...and don't forget those residents that

come in to see you at 6am with their group of about 10 meds students... GOOD

MORNING!!!

At the Beth Israel, they told me if I wanted a private room it was $100/day

extra, out of my pocket. I went with the semi, and lucked out. My roomate was

75 year old guy who was deaf as a haddock. He never made a peep. He was so

deaf, that when he'd press the call button, and the nurse would come over the

intercom to ask what was wrong, I'd have to answer for him, 'cuz he couldn't

hear them! It was kinda funny. But, I know I was lucky... some don't have such

good roomates. :-)

I hav to say i loved my private room!! I just didn't think I would

want to deal w/another person and thier visitors. I was right. I

just liked having my own space. I had surgery at BID and hold

your breath........ I had to pay a $100.00 xtra a night. It was still

worth it to me.

Just my humble thoughts,

Kathy V.

I also had a private room. My husband told Dr. Reines I always seemed to

have the roomate from hell..trying to asault the nurses... ( very true) I

had my surgery at NWH and never saw a bill .... Luckily when I was in in

July I had the best roomie!
