Guest guest
I went to our local Flea Market today. I had heard there were some soap vendors there, so I was just curious to see what they had. There were 2 soap sellers there (out of 200+ vendors) and both had M & P soap only. (I guess if I ever get good enough to sell my soap, I wouldn't have much competition in the area.) One of the M & P soapers had made up a sign advertising that her soap did not contain lye so it was better for your skin. What does that mean? If it doesn't have lye, what is the cleaning agent? I understand that you don't have to interract with lye since you buy your soap base pre-made. But doesn't the soap base contain lye? Confused, > > Dianne, > > It is normal you start with lye but in the end there is no lye left > in the > > soap. > > Kim > > > like olives or hominey (did i spell that right?) > > people do freak don't they? Guest guest
Stephani, No one can make soap without lye. Once the soap is made, the lye and oils become soap. It is a chemical action. MP is make with lye just the same as cp. IN fact mp is cp that had alcohol and boiled sugar water added at a certain point of the process to clarify it. It kind gets cooked a bit at one point, it is a process anyhow. The white mp was clear mp until titanium dioxide was added to make it white. (now if I am wrong someone will correct me I'm sure.). I " oversimplied the processes for the sake of simplicity. Anyway I hope that helps clear it up for you. Sherry in Aberdeen Flea Market (was: silly question) >I went to our local Flea Market today.
