Guest guest
Hi Kathy, In the beginning I think it was difficult for all of us. As we do it again and again and again it does get easier. I think you should go see your orhto and have him show you how to properly do it. The band shouldn't feel too stiff but you do have to push it open some. I'm having a hard time trying to explain this, sorry. :-) Let us know how you make out. > > My son (7 mos.) just recieved his STARband a few days ago. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, my dd just got her band the end of last week but started to really wear it as of monday. we have also had problems putting it on and taking it off. I've found that the best way to do it is to just position the helmet on her head and open it a bit and just kinda shove it on there. It sounds mean but that's what the ortho did and it seems to be the best way that I've found. Doesn't hurt her but it gets it on there good. I havn't found a good way to take it off yet but it seems to be getting easier. She whines through the whole thing when we're putting it on, taking it of or just plain adjusting it but once it's on there she's fine. Today will be the 8 hour long time in her helmet. So far she's doing wonderfully, we were so worried that she wouldn't do well because she has never liked hats or anything. We're so proud of her. And my dd has the STARband as well. Guest guest
Hello. My Daughter wore a Hanger Band (practically identical to the STAR). As far as getting it on and off... It can be a little tough to get used to in the beginning. It'll be much better for you (and your Son) once he is wearing it 23 hrs a day. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that you can REALLy pull it open at the opening on the side. it will open it up wider for you and make it easier to get on and off. Don't worry, it won't break. Just don't be afraid to open it up a bit there. completely undo the velcro, so it doesn't hamper you opening it up a bit there. Also, we used to always put in her excersaucer to put it on... keeps them upright and more still for you to get it on just right. Good luck. Guest guest
I think putting it on was definitly the hardest part. Sometimes my hand would slip and the band would snap shut like right in his eye. I felt so bad. Try to have someone hold him. Obviously this may not be possible all the time but it makes it eisier. Is he crusing yet? I would stand our son up and kind of wrap my legs around him while i was sitting on the couch to hold him there while I quickly put the band on. I would also just follow him and put it on as he tried to escape. You will get better at putting in on soon. Practice makes perfect. Our son also got more used to it and now he doesn't care at all. Are you having a good fit? I think our son hated getting the band put on so bad because we were having a bad fit and it was hurting him. Just my opinion. Now we are having a good fit and like I said he doesn't care at all. Haylee --- In Plagiocephaly , " Kathy " <jkhmartinez@s...> wrote: > > My son (7 mos.) just recieved his STARband a few days ago. Guest guest
I would put Jenna in her highchair when putting her band on if no one else was home to hold her. This way she couldn't move around as much. I also went back the ortho I think the 2nd day Jenna was banded and asked them to show me again the easiest way to take her band off and on. After that, it was smooth sailing. Angie and Jenna(STAR grad) Re: Difficulty placing helmet on baby's head >I think putting it on was definitly the hardest part. Guest guest
Hi Kathy had a Star Band and at the beginning I used to have some problems getting it on his head. I would put him between my legs, so I could see the top of his head and aim to get his ears in the correct spots. Don't try to move the helmet if it's on wrong, just take it off and try again. It will get easier (even so my husband never figured it out). Towards the end I gave a toy to distract him and that worked fine as well. never liked the time when I put it on or off. Just take it easy and try to do in one smooth motion, it really gets easier.
