Guest guest
I's so sorry you have had to deal with ignorant people. Kiersten really doesn't get many stares or I just don't see them anymore (she is baby #2 in a DOC). If a child had tapped on her band I would have flipped. Since she is #2 I figured people would think I was down right negligent, but I haven't sensed that. I really do believe some kids just have softer heads. I have seen plenty a child that spends waaayyy too much time on their back have a perfectly round head - oh I'm so jealous. We attempted all the tips and Kiersten was still banded - it totally sucks. I understand your frustration. Just remember you are doing what is best by your child and they can go fly a kite You could always just say you dropped him Keep smiling. It'll be over soon and AJ will have a round noggin to go with his wonderful smile. na, DOC Grad X2 Kiersten, DOC Band 1/10/06, Tort www.thefilywas.com/plagio/plagio.html > > I am sick and tired of someone saying to me.... Guest guest
, You can try printing up little plagio fact cards to hand out, this helps. Sometimes the people take them home and they end up in the hands of a parent in need of help. Get him some plagio T-Shirts www.preciousbambino.com and www.cappskids.org have great ones. Guest guest
I feel your pain...Laurel has only had her band for 2.5 weeks and we got our first insensitive comment by a 40-50 year old woman (a total stranger) at a funeral home visitation! She tapped Laurel's helmet and said, " Didn't get enough tummy time? " in this really condescending voice I almost punched her. > > I am sick and tired of someone saying to me.... Guest guest
I think that we all can relate to your pain . My twins have had virtually the same amount of tummy time, etc. and one has plagio and the other does not. My ped said some babes just have softer heads. Of course, this is irrelevant. The fact is that no one should feel it appropriate to comment or stare. I've been having to fight the urge to just stay at home and not take my banded baby out anywhere but that's not fair to him. At any rate, just remember how lucky we all are that we have children with issues that we can correct! This too shall pass...or, as my 104 year old grandmom says, " 6 months in the penitentiary ain't a lifetime. " Hee. > > I am sick and tired of someone saying to me.... Guest guest
That sucks that you are getting so many comments. I hate to say it but we really got used to the stares and people asking what was wrong. People should really be more sensitive to others feelings, but until they go through something like this themselves they probably won't. This has definitly raised my awareness about how I look at special needs people. Haylee mom to andre doc band grad > > I am sick and tired of someone saying to me....
