Guest guest
Hi , Are you near a Cranial Tech office? You could always go in for a free evaluation. Plagio is sometimes secondary to torticollis. How is his ROM? What position does he sleep in? Are you doing strectches with him at home along w/the PT? http://www.cranialtech.com/ClinicLocations/index.html > > Is there anything that can be done to correct assymetry? > > My son was diagnosed with torticollis at 2 mos he is now 11 mos. Guest guest
Hi , Does your son have any asymmetry of his head shape when you view his head from the top down? You may not notice a flat spot persay, but is there a possibility that there is a rounded plagicephalic head shape? I have certainly seen photos where banding helped to correct or partially correct asymmetry of the forehead, cheek and ears, and appearance of the difference in eye size. However, there needs to be a certain minimum severity of head shape for the bands to " work " by providing holding points, etc. About 80% of plagio babies also have tort, so in the plagio world, the conditions often go hand in hand, but I do know that tort can occur exclusively causing asymmetry concerns. 's suggestion of visiting Cranial Tech is a good idea, if you are near one. Head shape issues can be nuanced, such as asymmetry happening below the middle of the head making it difficult to see from a top view. That would be one way to rule out or in the use of a band to help with your son's asymmetry. Are you also a member of the tort group? Take care, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > > Is there anything that can be done to correct assymetry? > > My son was diagnosed with torticollis at 2 mos he is now 11 mos. Guest guest
Cristie, Thanks for input. His head from the top look very normal. It is oval in shape but does not appear to be abnormal in any way. > > > > Is there anything that can be done to correct assymetry? > > > > My son was diagnosed with torticollis at 2 mos he is now 11 mos. Guest guest
Stacey, We are in the central valley of California and I think the Cranial Tech office closest to us is in Southern California. Four to Five hours away. His ROM is good. He sleeps in all different positions now. He slept on his back until about seven months and now he sleeps on tummy and back. We are no longer working with the PT. Valley Children's Hospital released us from therapy. I do stretches at home with him two to three times daily for approximately 15-30 minutes depending on his cooperation level. --- In Plagiocephaly , " stripes6060 " <taime@...> wrote: > > Hi , > Are you near a Cranial Tech office? Guest guest
If you are at all able to make the trip to Cranial Tech and it is really bothering you I would go. We drove 16 hours one way to get there twice and we flew the rest of the time. It was worth it. That is just my onpinion.
