Guest guest
There are pros and cons to each surgery. The lap has less scarring, and the healing time is faster than open. Open is an easier surgery, so they can do it faster (which means you'll be under general anesthesia for less time), and with the open procedure, it is easier to find anything else that might be wrong with you. A lot of your choice depends on your particular case. was just too damn big to even consider the lap procedure, so it was an easy choice for him. If you're otherwise healthy, and you aren't concerned about the length of the surgery, look into getting the lap done. I know there are some very good doctors in the area who do it. Oh, and one more pro for the open procedure....Dr. Thayer does it, and he's just a really neat guy, one of the nicest, most personable surgeons I've ever met. He's amazing. -- S Re: ? Pam, Where did you have your surgery? I will be having mine with Dr. Thayer, but I'm not sure if I'm making the right choice because I would love to have a lap. I've heard wonderful things about Dr. Thayer, but the thought of a smaller incision is nice. peabodypam@... wrote: hi i had laproscopic surgery, I could have went back to work in 10 days but i took another week off, went back for a day, they told me i needed a doctors note to come back, so i waited another week for my doctors appt (3 week) then decided to go to cancun for 6 days then went back to work. I had alot of energy on the protein shakes, but when i started on soft foods i have been having trouble, so i have had to leave work early because i feel sick. but the outside is all healed up, i also have a desk job part time.
