Guest guest
Hi, everybody, I just received the newly updated 5th edition of a Begoun's book, Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me. In this new edition a includes the following information on Dead Sea salt, which I thought might be of interest to the group: The Dea Sea is one of the most saline bodies of water in the world. Its composition includes magnesium, sodium, potassium, calcium, bromine, sulfur and potash. But it is predominantly the sulfur you notice when you're standing close by. And you don't have to get all that close to the Dead Sea to appreciate the intense wafting smell of rotten eggs emanating from it. What does seem to be authentic about Dead Sea water is that it can bring about temporary relief from psoriasis and other severe skin rashes. Studies done by the Department of Medicine and Department of Epidemilogy and Dermatology at the Soroka Medical Center of Kupat-Holim in Israel and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev found that " improvement [in skin] was found when patients soaked in two pounds (one kilo) for three baths per week, for a period of six weeks. " That's a lot of Dead Sea water and that improvement is only for serious skin rashes. Based on the success some of our members have had with soaking their faces in Dead Sea water, it sounds like rosacea is another skin condition that sometimes improves with this treatment.
