Our OT told us that the DOC band is no longer usable after 4 months

no matter what. I don't know how true that is because the

Neurosurgeon told us at the begining that our son could be in it for

6 months. It probably depends on the person who fits the band.

Luckly our son grew alot and he had it for 4 months. He was banded

at 14 months. It will really depend on your child. I would think

that you could guess 4 months or less considering the age.

Hi ,

There really isn't an average. The amount of time a baby is banded

depends on a few thing. The age of the baby, how severe the baby's

plagio is, growth also factors in there.

The life of a DOCband is 4 months. Most babies 5 months old require

one band and wear it for 4 month, if not less. But a 5 month old that

has severe plagio may require 2 bands.

Usually the ears are the last to correct. Keep us posted on her progress.

A doc band can be worn for 16 weeks and then treatment is either done

or in some cases of severe plagio you will need a second band to

finish correction. My son wore three bands because he was so severe

23mm CVA. Sorry I can't help more than that, but each baby is so

different.

Does anyone know if a STARband lasts for more than 16 weeks? Our orthotist

thinks we'll be in it for 6 months and didn't say anything about possibly

needing two of them. Thanks!
