Guest guest
I have a 26 month son that had tort and plagio. He had two DOC bands and we did the neck exercises ourselves for his tort. I now have a two month old son showing the same signs of tort and plagio. He is starting to get a flat spot and tilts his head to the right. Does anyone know if it common for the second child to go through the same thing? Is it genetic? We are more aware of it this time around. We bought the Boppy noggin nest for the swing and carseat. We also bought the secure sleeper for his bassinet. I am upset that this could be happening all over again especially since we should be more aware of it. I see the peditrician on Tuesday and even if he doesn't think it is a concern I am going to Cranial tech for a consult. We waited too long for my first son to get his. He was 6 months old when he finally got his first band. I feel if we got it sooner he would of been out of it quicker and only would of had one. Thanks for any advice that is given. Guest guest
, You are not alone. We have two mods here that are going through the same thing as you and have said the same things you have. They will chime in I'm sure. CAROLG > > I have a 26 month son that had tort and plagio. Guest guest
, Welcome to my world. You're reliving my summer We noticed Kiersten's tilt and flatness at 3 months At 5 months she was evlauated by CT. This week she was banded. We did repo, memory foam in everything, tummy time, etc. At 3 months we started some gentle stretches. At 5 months we put her in PT because her neck was so tight CT felt she needed to release the muscles before a DOC band. They felt her neck was too tight for good correction. In my discussions with them we have come to a few assumptions (not really conclusions). 1. The tort was most likely inutero. If I have a 3rd kids there is a high probability he will need one too 2. The plagio was partially inutero and partially tort (Kiersten - more tort). 3. Some kids have softer heads! My suggestion get PT for the Tort ASAP! Get memory foam for the crib, pack-n-play, swing and bouncy (I didn't put it in the car seat for safety reasons - mfg says no adj). At his age CT may send you back for more PT. na, 2 1/2 yrs, DOC Grad Feb 04, Tort Resolved Kiersten, 7 1/2 months, DOC 1/10/06, Tort www.thefilyaws.com > > I have a 26 month son that had tort and plagio. Guest guest
Hi, I have two children with plagio as well. I do believe that genetics are a contributor to plagio, knowing and watching my daughter from birth she still got flat. When I was getting my son casted for his DOC band they looked at my daughter and said that I had better start repositioning and stretching or she would end up in a band as well. I did not want that so I began repositioning when my daughter was 3.5 months. Now at 6 months my daughters head is great. I would strongly suggest aggressive repo for a two month old, especially if it is not severe. godsgirl Preston - 18 months DOC band10/28/05 - present Brielle - 6 mo repoaliciaconnery <aliciamontini@...> wrote: I have a 26 month son that had tort and plagio. Guest guest
Boy I can relate! Our second banded baby just graduated! I would really recommend using an Amby Bed. Check out Ambybaby.com or they are now on Baby Center too. I was such a dummy with Cece. I really thought we had avoided the whole scenario. When she got to be 4 mo I thought we were in the clear because she wasn't flat so I leaned on the car seat and bouncy seat more than I should have. Then when she was 5 mo we moved her to her crib from the Amby because she was so very squirmy (the squirmiest of our 3 kids by far). That didn't exactly help the situation. Our younger two kids must have skulls as soft as marshmallows You obviously know what to do. Hopefully you can prevent getting a band this time around. Keep us posted! Mom to Dane 4 yo and Cece 12 mo (DOC Grads)
