I'd think the best option would be to make an appointment (for which

you may have to pay -- ask first) with your ortho and/or surgeon to

see what your options might be.

It could well be that if you're going on with the surgery, you'll

need the braces again, and that the docs will have to put your teeth

into a different alignment that they have just now, so that they'll

be right after the surgery.

It's no big deal to have the braces put on again, except financially!

i think, though, if I were your docs, I'd perhaps ask you to wait a

bit and be sure of what you really want. You actually may need to

wait a bit for the surgery to be sure you get to the end of your

growth first.

Meantime, Please don't feel yourself " self-conscious " or " ugly. " You

need to feel good about yourself whether or not you have the surgery.

You are only " ugly " if that's how you act. And while I believe that

the relationship of your jaws can be important to your function and

health, and can give you cosmetic improvement, resolving your bite

issues is not, most likely, gonna revolutionize your life.

I hope things go well for you, and that you can be happier with

yourself, however the matters of your jaws turn out..

Hi Melisa,

I would agree with Cammie with sayinging make an appointment and go from

there. I like you also have a larger lower jaw, and I am waitning for

surgery, but as I am only 16 I have to wait until I am a bit older until I

can have the surgery. I also feel really self-concious about my jaw and am

also thinking about it when I am with other people, and I hate how I look

when I see how my friends look. But knowing that it will be corrected

definitely helps.

Good luck to you, let me know what you decide.

I can't believe I actually typed this in: " It's no big deal to have

the braces put on again, except financially! "

It would be a very big deal to me if someone suggested that I do it

again. But I guess that I can be dismissive about it shows first, how

much easier the whole process was (for me -- not for everybody) than

I thought it would be. And second, that I learned some things that I

can do and manage that I found just impossible to accept before I

started it all.
