Hi ,

I don't know where in Canada you live but I can relate my story in

Calgary. It was a battle to get my daughter to just be seen and

evaluated. There is a huge lack of education about tort and plagio

and alot of doctors still say that it will go away on it's own. I

would use this website to find out about the nearest helmet or band

clinic near you that you could commit to visiting every 2 weeks or

so. I would find out the contact people etc. THen I would re-visit

your family doctor and tell her specifically who you want a referral

to go see. Give her the name, location, phone and fax number of the

center you picked. She can say it's not necessary etc but it's not

up to her. Politely explain that you would feel better if a

specialist who sees hundreds of kids with plagio and tort told you

that. If she still refuses, go to a walk-in clinic and insist on

it. They CANNOT refuse. If you do this and see the head-shaping

clinic be prepared that you may have to fight there too. Look at

the photos on this site and educate yourself. See if you can get

your child scanned so that you can have an objective measurement of

how bad etc the plagio is. I was told by the OT and PT at the

headshaping clinic that my daughter was only moderate. Her STarBAnd

showed her to be severe and this was AFTER 3 mths of very intense

repo work at home and physiotherapy. Trust your instincts and push

for what you think is right.

Good luck,
