Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to the group! I think it's really great of you to do this for this baby. :-) There are 2 place in NH that band babies. Guest guest
Hello, At her age you definitely want an active band from a place with a good reputation because you don't have any time to waste. The closest place I know of in the area with a good reputation and active band is still quite a travel for you, it would be Cranial Technologies in Clinton, Connecticut. There is NOPCO in Children's Hospital in Boston, but they use a passive version of a STARband, which would defnitely not be a good choice in your situation. I just checked our database and we do have a couple NH locations, one with a parent contact too! I don't think we've had many members use these places, so definitely be sure to check up on the ortho's training and experience. Here is the info: New Hampshire Hanger Cranial Band* Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics, 237 Route 108 # 201, Somersworth, NH 03878 Aiken, CO 603-742- 0334 New Hampshire Starband* New England Brace CO (NEBCO), 700 Lake Avenue, Manchester, NH 03103 Stacey Dorr (603) 668-8322 www.orthomerica.com --PARENT CONTACT: podycat@... Good luck in your search. Contacting the parent and getting a first hand report of their experience would probably be a great idea. There is also Angel Flight, which offers free air fare to appointments if none of the real local options pan out for you. We traveled to CT from Mass for our daugther's helmets. , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma http://hannahsnoggin.typepad.com --- In Plagiocephaly , " Sara " <sarajeanlang@y...> wrote: > > I am an occupational therapist currently working through EI with a 12 > month old female with torticollis and plagio. We are located in Northern, NH but mom is willing to travel and has contacts in the Rochester NH area...not far from the Somersworth location and Manchester in only a little under 2 hours drive. I will be seeing mom tomorrow and accompanying her to the TOT collar appt. on Monday and will definatly keep you posted. We are going to atleast use the TOT collar in the meantime until we can get her a consultation for the plagio. I can't thank you enough...this is going to make a big differene in this beautiful child's life. Sara

Guest guest
Hi Sara, I'm happy we could help. Like said if you could get her to the Cranial Tech in CT that would be great. You don't have any time to waste. The younger a baby is banded the better and faster the correction. She will need a prescription in order to get her baby banded. Will her pediatrician give her one? Angel Flights is awesome and will fly her for free. You can learn more about them here: http://www.aircareall.org/ Good luck and please keep us posted. > > To both posters - WOW! Guest guest
She will have no problem getting a prescription from her pediatrician but there are few things I need to have him confirm, or refer her for confirmation about. He is a general pediatrician and not concerned about the plagio (has not treated any cases in the past)...I know, I know....I only began working with this little girl 3 months ago because her EI eval was so late (I am contracted). She needs to have a CT scan to solidify this diagnosis but I will be contacting the resources you provided ASAP. I had actually come across the Angel Flight website earlier this evening and noticed that they had a picture of a child in a band but was unsure if they provided service for this kind of treatment. Getting her to CT would be great...we'll see what we can do. Again, thank you for your help...I'll be doing my best to get this child on the fast track to treatment! Guest guest
Good luck Sara! You're doing a great thing for them! It must be so nice for them to have someone on their side and helping because it can be overwhelming, especially when you have a pediatrician like that! Guest guest
Sara, I'm sure you're aware that it could take 6-8 weeks to get her in to see a specialist. That's a lot of correction time down the drain. Does the pediatrician think it could be craniosynostosis? Not all babies diagnosed with plagio have had CT scans. I think the best thing for you to do is get the script and make a casting appointment w/Cranial Tech while you wait for the appt w/the specialist. Time is definitely not on her side. We have had many members use Angel Flights everyone of them were thrilled with them. You're so awesome for doing this for her, she's a lucky baby. :-) > > > > > > To both posters - WOW! Guest guest
, I will need to have a conversation with the pediatrician regarding his thoughts but at this point he hasn't even really addressed the plagio or spoken of a differential diagnosis such as craniosynostosis. I will be making a trip to his office in the morning with this new information. It is an interesting relationship as he used to be MY pediatrician The secretary knows me by name and I have certainly made my share of phone calls into the office regarding this child...he has always been receptive to my thoughts on this case so I don't forsee compliance on his part to be a hinderance I'll keep you posted Sara > > > > > > > > To both posters - WOW! Guest guest
Sara, I see that you have already had excellent help from and Stacey, but I just wanted to say thank you. It is wonderful that you are willing to go the extra mile for your patient. That is a rare quality and I hope you never lose it. Good luck with the plagio treatment for your client. Tell that mom to get on here if she has internet access, lol. CAROLG > > I am an occupational therapist currently working through EI with a 12 > month old female with torticollis and plagio.
