Guest guest
My last lab work showed that my homocystein, cardio, was elevated. Normal range is <11.4 while mine is 14.8. I've been taking folic acid tablets for IgaN and now my internist (with the neph's approval) has substituted Foltx (generic Folbee) tablets. Foltx is a combo of folic acid, vitamins B6 and B12. Is an elevated homocystein, cardio, normal for IgaN patients? Is anyone else on Foltx? Jack (NY)
Guest guest
Hi Jack It's not an IgAN thing as such, but it's very common to have higher levels of homocystein when you have chronic renal insufficiency. I've never heard of Foltx before, but just about all patients with advanced chronic renal insufficiency or esrd take a special renal multivitamin that contains B vitamins and folic acid - but, very important for advanced renal patients, no vitamin A. Pierre Foltx (generic: Folbee) > My last lab work showed that my homocystein, cardio, was elevated. > Normal range is <11.4 while mine is 14.8. > > I've been taking folic acid tablets for IgaN and now my internist > (with the neph's approval) has substituted Foltx (generic Folbee) > tablets.
