Guest guest
Time is the best healer since will get better at keeping up. Another option is to pump first since not all let-downs are this strong. Keep a diaper or burp cloth handy to catch the spray with. Guest guest
This will lesson on it's own with time. Mine was/is the same way. It is not as forceful as it use to be but it still is really strong. My Ds is 8 months. It feels like somebody is pinching my nipples then it sprays a stream w/spray of 5-8. It goes for a long ways too and usually gives a bath. LOL. consider yourself lucky to have such a good letdown. I nurse same side for 2 - 3 hours before switching. This helps the 1 side that is being nursed and help keep ds from choking on forceful milk. Keep a diaper close by for cleanup. I always had a bottle handy to fill with milk from the other breast. I would get 5 + oz a day just in spray!!! Why waist it! Laurie Forceful and painful let down and ejection reflex When my milk comes down it is really painful and if not careful, I could spray across the room! LOL How can I fix this??mommy to Jake (4.3.98) and (6.15.00)Give the Gift of Life Breastfeed!http://www.lactivist.com

Guest guest
, Is your baby gaining well? If so then you could start to just nurse on one breast for a few hours and then switch to the other. This will help your body to regulate your supply. Painful letdown, I have been told, usually eases up by about four months, but the more your supply is regulated the less painful it will be. Carry a lot of cloths with you to catch stray drips and sprays.
