Guest guest
i am even having difficulty with my husband "acknowledging" there is a problem. My daughter's plagio is mild, but I want to monitor it to make sure it doesn't get worse or to see if we should pursue banding. He won't even give me his opinion on asymmetry, ear alignment, taking pics, etc Selmastripes6060 <taime@...> wrote: ,Mine was the same way! Guest guest
, He's not the first. No one wants their child to wear a band. Ask him this ... if his child has crooked teeth will he get him braces? It's the same philosophy. You know there is an abnormality and you can fix it relatively easily. It won't cause pain. It can be a bit cumbersome - you have to clean it, it bumps you in the nose, you have to go to follow-up adjustments. Treatment will last much less than the treatment for braces. People may stare they may ask stupid questions (correction they will ask stupid questions but you can use it as an opportunity to educate the public). However, how do you tell your child in 13 years that you had an opportunity to fix the problem and didn't want to because dad was upset. The problem with this abnormality is no one (not even the best dr) can tell you if your child will round out without treatment. By the time you know it's too late for treatment. The research is scant on what happens when left untreated. There are some studies which indicate chronic ear infections, eye sight issues, TMJ, and migraines. Then there is the psycological impact of being different. I don't want to bully you into something you don't feel is right for your child but I wanted to give you a compelling argument na, 2 1/2 yrs, DOC Grad Feb 04, Tort Resolved Kiersten, 7 1/2 months, DOC 1/10/06, Tort www.thefilyaws.com > > How did your husband/boyfriend feel about the helmets? It gets to the point where you don't even notice it. I remember being at the zoo and he kept saying "Why are people looking at us?" Thats funny about the zoo. I would probably do the same thing. I have a severly handicap sister and I am use to stares. I am going to educate my daughters whole school about the baby so that people are aware of plagio and wont be afraid to ask me what is on my baby's head. I honestly would rather be asked questions over stares. I think more people need to be aware of plagio. Now that I have been educated on cranio and plagio I believe more people should no what it is and what to look for. To many kids go untreated.
