Guest guest
Well have you ever had a car accident and not even be in the car? Last evening I went to my scrapbook cropping class....arriving about 6:15 p.m. I had just taken the last of my supplies etc. inside and was setting up my table. Most of the people had arrived, and as one lady was coming in told us that someone had just hit a car outside on the parking lot. We all went outside to see what had happened. I thought at first that the person might have hit someone walking (park is right beside the senior center). Everyone was looking at the car which had just been hit.....and I'm standing back on the sidewalk looking for my car. I didn't see my car....and walked a little further thinking "where is my car". My car when I parked it was facing north......and when I stood there in shock looking at my car, it was facing west. One of the ladies asked me "Barbara, is that your car?" I said "yes"....that's my car. I was just in shock because I thought how could anyone hit my car so hard and do so much damage when it was parked legally between 2 white lines. The negro lady was very apologetic and kept saying "I'm so sorry". She had 2 little kids with her in the backseat of the car and a man. They had been walking in the park and she still had weights on her ankles. I asked her how could that have happened since my car was parked and not even in her way. She said that when she backed out the weights around her ankles made her legs/ankles feel heavy. Somehow she hit the accelerator and lost control of the car. Fortunately she was cooperative and gave all her insurance information. She had just picked up her new car (KIA) but she did have insurance on the car. No one was injured and that's a miracle too because people had been going in and out bringing in their scrapbook supplies etc. The police did come out but didn't file an accident report so hopefully we'll not have any problems getting our car repaired. I called Carroll to come over and check to see if I should try to drive the car since I would be coming home very late. He decided to take the car home because something is wrong with the brakes but the outward visible damage is the left side of the car (both doors) are dented badly and whole side is scratched from one end to another. The other car (her car) looked like she side swiped a car........I guess she did that too to our car. So.....the good news is that no one was hurt.....the bad news is that I'm without a car for a few weeks unless we can get a rental car. I guess Carroll will have to be my chauffer to go to jury duty on Monday since he'll need the truck Monday. I don't like to drive downtown Dallas anyway. Hopefully I can get out of serving right now ......eye doctor's appt. on Thursday. I'd better get to bed since I was up pretty late last night.
