[T20060118001U] Thank you for visiting Sees.com. Unfortunately, the Dark Chocolate with Almonds Candy bar has been temporarily discontinued and is not available at this time. Our Quality Assurance department has advised that we have recently reformulated our products and we have eliminated wheat as a direct ingredient in all of our candies. Therefore, none of our products contain gluten as a direct ingredient and cross-contamination is no longer a possibility. We do wish to advise that our Malt Truffle contains malt powder. We are still in the process of changing our packaging labels and do not expect to have this completed until later this year. Some of our product labels still list wheat as an ingredient. However, wheat is no longer used as an ingredient in these products. I hope this information is helpful. Thanks for your interest in See's Candies. We look forward to serving you soon. Guest guest
But they did mention malt in the one truffle, so obviously they were thinking of that also. I’m trying to imagine the taste of rye in a truffle—I just don’t think it would sell. (Being very silly—you’re right to point this out, but I’m still celebrating) Laurie lbilyeu@... Guest guest
I'm an East Coaster but when I was in CA we went to a Sees Candies Store and the clerk pulled out a book to check the ingredients of all the candies I was interested in. She was even able to go down a list of what didn't have wheat. And from those looked to see if it had Malt or other ingredients that I should avoid. I'm impressed just by the fact that they are trying to make it available to more people by removing wheat as an ingredient. That's a huge step in my opinion. :-) in VA Re: Good news re Sees Candies > we have eliminated wheat as a direct ingredient in all of our candies. Guest guest
That was my first time ever in one of their stores but I've had people bring me back or send candy from them and it is the BEST! They were so nice and helpful there and greeted everyone who came in and treated everyone so well. Yes, it was great, sadly they'd probably lose some of that kind of service if it were to become a nationwide chain. Not being able to get it all the time makes it all the more special when I get some as a gift. :-) in VA Re: Good news re Sees Candies > we have eliminated wheat as a direct ingredient in all of our candies. Guest guest
I have read Sees candy statement and I am a bit concerned. They state that they do no put wheat as a direct ingredient but what about the packaging? I thought that was one of the issues we had to worry about? Do they still dust their lines with flour? Thanks, Gluten Free makes me feel good and it taste good too! Our Quality Assurance department has advised that we have recently reformulated our products and we have eliminated wheat as a direct ingredient in all of our candies. Therefore, none of our products contain gluten as a direct ingredient and cross-contamination is no longer a possibility.
