Guest guest
Oh, , that just moves me all the way to the center! Go, kids! Don’t underestimate them—Einstein’s career started with a childhood experiment! I don’t know nothing about brochures—I might start at the Celiac Kids type websites. The restaurant cards might be good too. And how about some examples of what either inspired them to invent this or that looks like their dream. I’m thinking of the test strips for my fish tank The little squares turn a different color according to about 7 different things in the water. Laurie lbilyeu@... My 2 kids (1 celiac, 1 gluten sensitive) have entered an invention exposition and had decided their inventions will be products to help those with celiac disease. I wanted to include brochures on the table about celiac disease. Can't pass up the opportunity to educate the public....right? Any suggestions on brochures etc would be appreciated. My son wants to invent a test strip to test food for gluten before you eat it (he says it would be easier than reading labels), my daughter wants to invent a medication that you could take after eating gluten that would keep you from reacting. These are their own ideas and they are working hard on their prototypes. Too bad it won't really be real. I guess it's every celiacs dream to be able to eat anything and just take a pill to make up for it

Guest guest
Here is a site which might help your son with his idea. It is a home test kit(looks similar to a pregnancy test) to determine if gluten is present in a food. Takes 5 mins. hopefully this will help with his invention! Just go to the website below and scroll down to Gluten Home Test Kit. http://www.elisa-tek.com/ Also, I remember reading about a pill containing prolyl endopeptidase (PEP) that correlates with CD. Has your daughter looked into this yet? Hope their projects go well!! ~ in NH > > Which celiac brochure do you feel is the most informative? > > My 2 kids (1 celiac, 1 gluten sensitive) have entered an invention > exposition and had decided their inventions will be products to help > those with celiac disease. Guest guest
www.celiacdisease.net has some pretty good ones. There was also a really good article recently in the Philadelphia Enquirer. It asked me to sign up as a member when I just searched their website. You may be able to find a copy of it in the Silly Yaks archives - it came out on 1/3/06. I know I posted a link in response to Glutenless Pete's email. --Trudy San , CA "People who believe in absurdities will eventually commit atrocities." ~Voltaire -------------- Original message -------------- Which celiac brochure do you feel is the most informative? Guest guest
I would choose to say " priceless. " Any sort of gizmo like this, any sort of testing, any sort of anything that puts gluten in the limelight (to show how BAD it can be), in my opinin, is priceless.
