The band doesn't have to be tight to cause additional deformity. I

have met a couple babies who got increased head height from a U of M

band. Their heads were no longer flat but they were tall! They

switched to our provider and I met them in the lobby. Their bands

weren't tight. They just redirected growth to the incorrect area.

the ortho at nopco asked him to take us....we had to wait 2 hours.....he was

more annoyed

with us than anything, he said something like " i have 30 kids im treating

now-and you

should see THEM! " great, so were being compared now. i dont care about someone

elses

oh yeah he was Mr Ego-my husband held up Aidans before and after pics while he

was

talking and he actually gave my husband " the hand. " And he said dont worry about

his

head...he measured it around the circumference and said it fell within normal

range. but

that does not cover height. so esentially he denied our concerns.

i dont know what were going to do. we have to pay for everything out of pocket.

if we had

$3,000, or even $1500 for the deposit id do the DOC tomorrow. but we dont. we

are

trying to get out of debt so we cut up all our credit cards...needless to say we

are very

unhappy, and confused.

nopco offered to make an actual cast from aidans head, not a scan, and make him

a new

helmet right there. wonder if if this would be beneficial or just a waste of

time?

It would be a total waste of precious correction. This ortho is

clueless!!!!!!

NOPCO HAS to give you your money back, it's that simple. You paid them

for a service, they haven't provided you w/that service, you're

entitled to a refund. If I'm not mistaken, we've had other members

receive a refund from them.

Also I believe it's $600.00 down for a DOCband, not $1500.00.

Mr Ego is also Mr Rude. :-(

I would have been livid if he put his hand up to me like that.

No treatment is better than bad treatment. I wouldn't give someone

a second chance to mess up.

I'd take a pass and demand my money back. Actually I'd take it a

step farther and require that they cover the cost of the DOC Band

since they caused the additional deformity.

I can teach you all kinds of ways to get your money back.

Picketing, writing letters to the Editor and contacting that

reporter who recently did that plagio story are all great ways to

start out if they flat out refuse you.

I hear you on not wanting to put anything else on the credit card.

We have a load on there because we weren't expecting to have a third

baby. Cece surprised us! We didn't have maternity benefits and I

had to go on Zofran. A month of that costs as much as DOC Band!

We did put both bands on credit cards. We got reimbursed for half

of Cece's. We just looked for 0% fixed APR on balance transfers and

flipped everything over to that. I don't like that much debt, but

it's easier to swallow when there isn't any interest. I use to be a

Sr. Banking Officer for a credit card bank so I'm familiar with how

to play the game.

Unbelievable..this guy kills me. I agree with others..I would go

elsewhere for further treatment. Maybe given your situation..CT

could work out a payment plan with no interest or something. I would

also insist that the hospital first reimburse you. Go directly to the

head of that department..if that doesn't work..go to the head of the

hospital. Be a royal pain in the butt. Threaten legal action. You are

right in this case. Try getting them to reimburse you...it's the

LEAST they can do. Give yourself the weekend to gain your strength

back and deal with them on Monday. Be VERY firm with them. Your

concerns are very valid. Good luck and keep us posted.

Also.. if NOPCO is that bad and they've refunded money on several

occasions recently...I would think a possible class action lawsuit is

in order. It's awful that so many parents have not only had horrible

service but their babies'heads are worse off. Not to mention the

grief the parents are going thru. It's not right.

I would contact other parents and get together via email, in person

or conference call. See if your situations are similar.. If so,

I would contact a very good attorney. This is awful. I would also

notify Orthomerica about your situation. Send them the before and

after photos. They need to know this facility is hurting babies in

too many occasions. Listen..I know mistakes can happen but this seems

to be more common per the other posts/complaints.
