Re: Indentions on baby's head

Hello. It sounds to me that he may need some foam shaved out around

there (like above the ear cut outs). My Daughter only had indentations

if she slept for a long time on one side or the other. But, he

shouldn't be having indentations over both ears all the time. Could it

maybe be a fluid build-up issue? I know some babies experience that

and then everything goes back to normal after the band.

I'd talk to the Ortho again and express your concerns.

Both of my banded kids had fluid retention above the buckle on the

flat side. Is that what you think it might be? Kind of odd that it's

on both sides.

Does your new ortho in CA have a lot of experience with the bands?

Did he get the file with pictures, etc from the old ortho? Where in

CA are you? Maybe someone here has used that ortho?

- I'm not going to be much help on the specific issue, but

just letting you know....my daughter (5.5 mo old) has been in a Hanger

helmet for just about one month (so we're right about where you are).

We have been back to the orthotist 5 times as of today. I haven't had

your specific issue, but tightness at different locations has been a

big problem for us. And rotation problems aren't helping. I agree

with others that it seems like a little shaving of foam would help. I

can't believe how much we've had shaved and added in less than a

month. They are blaming some of our problems on excessive hair causing

possible slippage and also...since she is not a " sitter " yet, she is

still on her back and wiggling in it a lot. I think we are getting

there. Just be persistant if you think it's wrong. Good luck.

Is there a redmark where the indentations are showing? If you feel that

his head is still not right than have a free consult done by CT and see

what they say. They can also look at the indentations and tell you if

they are a problem. Sounds to me like you have no confidence in this

new clinic and it may be time for a change.
