These include any annual information returns whose required or actual filing date was within the last three years, which generally means the three most recent returns. These annual returns use Form 990 and its variants for 501© organizations, and Form 1065 for 501(d) organizations. If the organization filed its application for tax-exempt status (e.g. Form 1023 or 1024) after July 15, 1987 or possessed a copy of its application materials on that date, it must also make copies of that application available to the public. All schedules, attachments and other supporting material submitted with the annual return and application must also be disclosed, with exceptions noted below. Public access must be provided promptly on request by allowing inspection of the documents at the organization's office or offices, and by providing copies of the documents promptly in response to any in-person request or within 30 days for a written request. However, organizations don't have to provide copies if they make these materials widely available through publication on the Internet, or if the IRS determines that the organization is being subject to a harassment campaign. The organization is permitted to require a payment in advance for actual postage costs incurred, and a copying fee of up to $1 for the first page and $0.15 for each page thereafter. The request may be for only certain documents, or only certain portions of documents, in which case the charges must be for only those pages. NPO staff members who fail to comply with the new law and regulations are personally subject to fines and other penalties (i.e. the person refusing to provide public access gets fined, not the organization). The law allows certain information to be excepted from public disclosure. However, other than this specifically excepted material, all schedules, attachments and other material associated with the annual information returns and application for tax-exempt status submitted to the IRS must also be disclosed, as must any letter or other document issued by the IRS with respect to the application. Guest guest
I am not one to pass judgement on anyone but coming from a professional marketing and legal background and working with start- ups for over 14 years (and being an EMT - don't have to chase 'em cause I can drive 'em) I too have seen the posts from Wind Foundation recently. Just my two cents but if Wind Foundation is attempting to garner business and truly help, I think a much better approach would be to have your business plans in order first. Having a website with the appropriate public documents, a description of what you do, success stories, background, personal information/education, and experience in grant writing would be a better way to start. This would be helpful and probably lend more credence to your company than what has been posted as of late regarding your organization. I think it is a noble attempt and many organizations could probably use this type of assistance. However, I am a bit skeptical about your organization and would be unwilling to engage it based on your " ability to help " without some type of formal information that can be reviewed first. I hope I have not offended anyone with these comments but some times my opinions get the best of me. Guest guest
By god, then send me some too, 'cause at this point, I don't give a fat rat's behind what this thing is, you are completely out of your frapping tree! IF this is in any way legitimate, then they need to do a couple of things before I will cease telling everybody I run across in EMS how totally shady this appears. 1. Get a website, and provide information that can be independantly verified. This should have been done FIRST. 2. Get somebody else as a spokesperson, because you are verging on complete psychosis threatening a lawsuit on the first person to ask legitimate questions. Where's that going to get you? That should REALLY encourage participation..uhh huuh. You can send my lawsuit papers to: Brown 9831 Farrell Dr. Houston, Texas 77070 or just have drop 'em off here. I will be in the country another week or so looks like. magnetass sends Re: Wind Foundation >> >> >> What's your web site? >> >> Who's your board of directors? >> >> How are you funded? >> >> Mike >> >> On Mon, 17 Jan 2005 05:14:29 -0000, windfoundation >> wrote: >> > >> > >> > need help with getting data about Volunteer EMS Service that are in >> > need of help Ie needing a new ambulance. we would like to help but >> > need justifcation ina report. what we need is what the department is >> > the amount of thier budget amout they bill and the amount they >> > collect. and if they are over budget. espeicaly those that are in an >> > emergency need. >> > >> > About WIND FOUNDATION >> > >> > The WIND FOUNDATION was formed in March of 2004 to meet the needs >> > of small volunteer emergency medical services (EMS) groups providing >> > emergency medical care to citizens in their communities, including >> > the indigent. >> > >> > The Wind Foundation will seek to provide support for these groups >> > from businesses, citizens and government agencies. Obviously this is going to be a very long learning curve for WIND. You guys just don't get it. Without the ability to learn from your mistakes, as well as that of accurately recognizing who your friends and enemies are, and dealing diplomatically with both, you're doomed. Save your time. Guest guest
It's not the fact that this was questioned. It's HOW it was put. For example: " By god, then send me some too, 'cause at this point, I don't give a fat rat's behind what this thing is, you are completely out of your frapping tree! " I fail to see that as insightful, professional, or even rational! Question the foundations claims? Absolutely. I did too, and did a bit of research on the web. But this is NOT the way professional discussions are conducted. It reflects badly on our profession. =Steve= Steve , LP AlertCPR Emergency Training 2300 Highland Village Rd, Suite 340 Highland Village, TX 75077 >--- Original Message --- > >To: < > >Date: 1/20/05 11:49:38 AM > > " Steve , LP " wrote: >> >> This message is offensive, inarticulate, and rude. >> And THIS is the image of EMS we give the world. >> And we wonder about our low image? > >I disagree in every respect.
