CONFERENCE WEEK!

Dear Friends,

I can't believe that this Friday is the start of the ThyCa Conference!

As of yesterday, there were 194 people pre-registered. A new record

for us! We are expecting MANY more people to register on-site.

Everyone is welcome! Scholarship money is available for those who

cannot afford the $45 registration fee. Just ask at the registration

desk.

Many people have just recently heard about the conference through the

grapevine - as recently as a few days ago - and have decided to make

the trip to Los Angeles to join us. There is still time for you to

come too.

If you decide to come, please DON'T mail your registration form! It

will never get to us in time. And please don't register online either

because the deadline has passed. Just register on-site when you get

to the hotel. We'll be waiting for you! :-)

All of the sleeping rooms at the conference hotel, the Los Angeles

Athletic Club, are now sold out. But our back-up hotel, the Wyndham

Checkers, has plenty of rooms and is only a short walk away. For more

As I was packing, I thought of a few things to pass along to you:

- Bring a light sweater because sometimes it's chilly sitting in a

hotel meeting room.

- Carry your thyroid pills on the plane! Do not pack them in your

luggage. They don't like to get cold (like in the belly of a plane)

or hot (like sitting on the tarmac in the sun at the airport) -- they

lose their potency forever.

- Make sure you have enough pills to get you through the weekend.

(There is a Rite Aid drug store very close to the hotel in case you

need it.)

- The weather looks great this weekend: partly cloudy, high of 76

degrees Farenheit, low of 56.

- Leave the phone number of the Los Angeles Athletic Club with

someone at home: . If there are phone messages, we'll

post them on a bulletin board in our regisration area.

- Bring a pad of paper and a pen so you can take notes during the

sessions. Also good for writing down addresses and phone numbers of

new friends. And speaking of note taking, we are in need of people to

take notes at the sessions they attend, so that we can later post

those notes on our web site. The folks who cannot come to the

conference would love to be able to read what we talked about. So

please consider sharing your notes with us. Thanks! (Neat handwriting

is NOT necessary. Our secretary is able to translate any handwriting,

even DOCTOR writing! grin)

Well, I need to go catch my plane to Los Angeles this morning. Many

of the conferece volunteers are getting there early so we can put the

finishing touches on this amazing conference. I sure hope to see many

of you there!
