Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to say that I used the posts on this group to help make

the decision between the helmet and DOC Band. We have chosen the DOC

Band - like everyone else, I'm hoping we made the right decision. We

were worried insurance wouldn't pay - but to our surprise they will

pay 100% because there are no in-network providers in our area!!!

I'm a bit nervous about how this will all go - appts. band and

physical therapy each week and working full-time, but us moms do what

we need to do, eh? Bella (6 months) is in the infants and toddlers

program, sees a physical therapist and is starting the band. She is

pretty severe - was 2 mo. premature and spent time in the neonatal

intensive care unit. I've tried to stop kicking myself for not

noticing her head before it was so bad - the guilt is horrible, but

the hospital didn't tell me about repositioning, I just thought she

was comfortable that way, she was that way in the hosp. because of all

of the chords that were in her and got used to it.

Question - what is it like going through the casting process - how did

you prepare yourselves emotionally for the day and then what was it

like afterwards? It would just be nice to hear from another mom what

to expect. We're going to Cranial Tech - they seem really great - but

I'm still nervous, Bella's been through so much already...Advice?

Wisdom? Please?!

Thanks in advance, I look forward to going through this process with

you. Will post pictures after we get the band - I'm already thinking

about decorating ideas. One good thing - she can't wear bows in her

hair yet, so this will give me something pretty to do for her!

Sincerely,

April mom to Isabella (6 months) DOC casting 12/21 - will begin

wearing band 01/04/06. polis, land
