Guest guest
I know we have many moms who use the Britax and love them. I have also recently been out carseat shopping and saw a few that have memory foam in them now, I think Graco was one. Hope that helps. Guest guest
We had the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite. Well when Kiersten started to outgrow her infant seat and na was outgrowing the Elite at only 2 we went with the Britax Boulevard and Decalthalon. I have 2 boulevards in my van and mother in law has two decalthalons in hers. For an infant I would reccomend the decathalon or boulevard because they come with an infant insert that is all cozy and helps keep them snug. You could also go with the roundabout but it only goes up to 40 lbs and 40 " . Considering na was 38 " and 36 lbs at 2 years old I knew I needed something more for both of them. na was no where near ready for a booster and SC law says 5 point harness until 4 and 40 lbs (I think it's very conufsing). The Britax boulevard and decathalon and marathon go up to 49 " and 65 lbs. My children will be in 5 point harness at least till kindergarten. I will get my money's worth. BTW the stores sometimes run sales on britax in late summer when the new fabric styles come out. na, DOC Grad X2, Feb 04, Tort Resolved Kiersten, DOC Band 1/10/06, Tort www.thefilyaws.com/plagio/plagio.html --- In Plagiocephaly , " lrajo2001 " <lrajo2001@...> wrote: > > is about to outgrow his infant carseat (15 wks, 18lbs)and we > will be purchasing a convertible seat. Guest guest
Nora has a regular Graco carseat from Walmart, it's the more expensive one, I think it was around $200. It works awesome because it reclines. Before that she had just a regular high back booster that didn't have any support. Will has had his cast almost a week now and is doing fabulous. One question for you though...do any of you use a special carseat? We have a Britax Boulevard but ish Rite loaned us a Britax Hippo which is made to be wider at the hips to allow for better circulation. The only problem is that Will is fairly small and it doesn't fit him very well (he almost looks suspended in air...less support all around but certainly no pressure on the hips) We have looked into some type of wedge for our current carseat but are wondering if you have any ideas. Thanks!
Guest guest
We have a britax that kinda looks like the hippo from ish Rite. We bought it at Buy Buy Baby in Dallas. I will look and see the type. We don't need anything but a rolled up towel behind him but the people at ish who showed us the Hippo suggested a triangle shaped noodle that they thought academy sold.... Guest guest
Hey- it's a Britax Frontier 85 and looks pretty much just like the hippo one at ish but has cup holders and arm rests. Very wide base..... Goes to 85 lbs. It's a car seat/booster and has a thing on the bottom you can flip back or forward. You could roll up a towel or use a noodle which would be cmsller and less akward than the hippo maybe. Guest guest
We didn't change carseats either. I will say that I see ALOT of pictures of kids with their carseat straps on incorrectly with casts and I would urge you make sure that it is still properly being used. The straps need to go over the shoulders not on the side of the arms. If it is not on correctly the straps may not hold them in, in the cast of an accident. So you need a seat tall enough to accommodate your child if they have an over the shoulder cast. If you are not sure most hospitals / police stations have car seat safety people who car help you figure out how to have your car seat be safe with a cast on. Guest guest
thanks for the replies. the carseat we have fits him fine. they were just concerned that if he is not sitting more at an angle that it would be uncomfortable and may decrease circulation to his legs. I got the impression from them that everyone in a cast had this issue but it doesn't sound like it?! maybe it is because he is on the smaller side. Guest guest
I am thrilled to hear all this about ish Rite! Things were so different when was going through casting. Of course they were not seeing near as many children/babies for Infantile Scoliosis then....just a handful. It sounds as if they are really crossing every t and dotting every i! Which is GREAT!
