Guest guest
A while back there was some discussion about Yahoo owning the copyrights to what we post. I read the terms of service, and I didn't see any provision to that effect. What was being referred to?
Guest guest
I beg your pardon? Publications generally own the material in them as a matter of common law and statute. It doesn't have to be a matter of contract. --Mona--

Guest guest
I'd be very grateful if you could point out a citation to me that supports your opinion. Well, I can't at the moment because I'm in the midst of a six month leave of absence from work, without access to the office law library. I'm only going by what I know as a lawyer who's done a few intellectual property cases. If you have access to a law library go look up copyrights in American Jurisprudence (a legal encyclopedia any law librarian would be able to direct you to). Many people think one must formally copyright something in orderr to enjoy copyright protection, but that's not true. Common law vests you with copyrights on anything you write (even a grocery list) or writing that you own. It can get complicated, in that arguably both you and Yahoo have copyrights in what you write. But Yahoo does have them, because Yahoo owns the list. --Mona-- --Mona--
