Guest guest
Hi Joan, I'm sorry that the blood test results have upset you so badly :-( Try and relax and not worry about them as much as you possibly can, especially since you know what the worry is going to do to you. I found an article about the C Reactive Protein test - you may have already read it. I just read through and I thought that it was reassuring rather than alarming, as it said that a raised level in the test is merely an indication of some type of inflammation in the body. It also lists the different types of diseases/scenarios that can cause the abnormal test results, and some of them are really quite common. The article is located at http://www.heartcenteronline.com/myheartdr/common/articles.cfm?Artid=376 & sta rtpage=1#1 You may have to copy and paste this addy into your web browser since it's so long, but if you haven't already read it, I think you might find that it'll help you get some sleep. I'm not saying that the results can't mean something serious, but they could also be something relatively minor also, so don't jump to the worst conclusions before you have more to go on. And by all means, I'd try and get some answers from you doctor tomorrow - he should understand your concern and not mind you contacting him over the weekend, and if he doesn't understand - well - TOUGH! He's your doctor, working for you, and therefore he needs to be availalbe when YOU need to talk to him!! Let us know what the doc says, do some web searches and read more if it'll make you feel better (I just typed the term into my Netscape Browser window and came up with quite a few hits), take a hot bath with some aromatic candles lit around it, have a nice hot cup of chamomille or other soothing tea, and then get some sleep - things will look better in the morning after you're rested :-) - At 01:47 AM 11/4/01 EST, you wrote: >Hi All, > >I have been to yet another doctor and I had the regular battery of tests >done... Guest guest
Hi all, I read the artical that gave me and it was very reassuring. I got to sleep about 5:30am and slept for about 4 hours. Hubby knows that I am all worked up, so he canceled all of my plans for today so I can sleep. He has the boys cleaning the house with him today the way I like it, and I think that after my meds I will be able to sleep some more. Thank you all for your kind words. I know that getting upset will not help. I was wondering if people with fibro test High on the C reactive Protein. I will ask my doc today if that is just something that is normal for fibro. My hubby seems to think that it makes sense for fibro patients to have a high reading on this test. Joan

Guest guest
Hi Joan, I'm so glad that the article that I found helped you last night!! That's an interesting question about whether people with FM would ordinarily test high on the c reactive protein test - I suppose it would depend on how much inflammation was present with each individual case of fibro?? Some people have it and don't seem to have symptoms as severe as others - they're able to hold jobs and lead relatively normal lives, while others are virtually housebound/bedbound from the pain. I would think that those more severely affected would have greater inflammation, but don't really know??? It did say that inflammation from several types of arthritis could raise the levels, so it makes sense the fibro might also? Something to ask your doctor about for sure! You just keep on being relaxed about the whole thing and keep yourself as healthy and pain-free as possible. I'm so proud of you for conquering your fears last night and getting some sleep!! You're a very brave lady, and you'll come through this all just fine!! Be sure and let us all know what the doctor says about all of this, and whether he thinks that this particular test is important for ALL FM patients - it may be something that we should be having run and just don't know to ask for!! - At 09:37 AM 11/4/01 EST, you wrote: >Hi all, > >I read the artical that gave me and it was very reassuring.
