,It could very well be the Febreeze you're spraying in his band. Itsays on their site that it shouldn't come into contact with skin:Basically it can cause mild skin irritation with prolonged contents, should not be sprayed in the face, should be kept out of reach ofchildren, lists inhalation symptoms as irritation of eyes andrespiratory tract, and even list a First Aid reponse for skin contact(rinse with water.) This should not be sprayed on bands ever, I'msure!!!!

Never used it = ). Only baby soap and alcohol. That's the only thing my ortho said ti could be. I think it might be the soap. I just started using a lavender soap

I would try washing his hair only with Aveeno for babies (for sensitive skin) and use alcohol only for cleaning the band. Also..some cortisone on the red areas on his face. I would probably get his skin under control first before putting the band back on and then try again from scratch. I hope this clears up soon. Good luck!PS: Just checking...the redness is ONLY in the face area..correct? If so... as odd as it may seem...it still could be an allergic reaction. Obviously.. going to his doc is best.

OK I am going to buy the stuff today. (aveeno and cortisone) . TY.. and yea it is only on his face. Poor thing

Do not pour a bottle of alcohol on the band and let it soak, that is

too much. Just scrub it good and let it dry and then after several

hours of drying you can scrub it again. You aren't using soap or

Febreze or anything like that on the band are you? These things clog

the small pores and cause bacteria to grow thus causing a rash or

worse an infection. I think it is good to check with the ped, he

looks like he is reacting to something more than the band. Have you

switched laundry detergents or fabric softeners lately. Check close

because you know how they keep adding things to all the detergents

now, like the downy in the Tide. Dominick would get soo bad if I

changed, we use Tide regular scent with bleach and downy april fresh

or nothing, lol. Good Luck and let us know what the ped says.

It could very well be the Febreeze you're spraying in his band. It

says on their site that it shouldn't come into contact with skin:

Basically it can cause mild skin irritation with prolonged contents,

should not be sprayed in the face, should be kept out of reach of

children, lists inhalation symptoms as irritation of eyes and

respiratory tract, and even list a First Aid reponse for skin contact

(rinse with water.) This should not be sprayed on bands ever, I'm

sure!!!!

What exaclty did your ortho tell you to do to clean your son's band?

So far I've read from you that you wash it w/soap, spray it w/Febreeze

and now you're going to soak it in alcohol? I've never in all the

years I'm here have heard of such things. Is your ortho telling you to

do these things? Does Hanger have a new protocol for cleaning their

bands? If so, please share it w/us, I'm very interested.

Thanks,
