Guest guest
Zofia, No. It's not very common for a DOC Band to fit incorrectly. I'm not saying it can't happen, it's just not common. The bands can cause fluid retention in some areas that disappear after graduation. We have experienced this twice. You can ask for an updated photostudy and measurements (if taken) to compare against the originals. That can show you where things stand. Sometimes moms say the head looks lumpy as it's correcting. We personally haven't experienced this, but I have read that here before. Trimming on the forehead is something that may need to be done. Both my DOC babies have needed it. As they grow the band may sit differently. Certainly Marissa needs to see so if it's blocking her view. If you don't feel confident in your clinician then I would suggest asking to see someone else there. You also can contact HQ. You can find the information on cranialtech.com. Good luck. I hope all your concerns are resolved quickly. Mom to Dane 4 yo (DOC Grad) and Cece 11 mo (DOC Grad)

Guest guest
Zofia, It's not usual to have fit issues with a DOC band. However, if she has had a recent growth spurt it could be all out of wack and need a good adjustment. Even at 1 she could have a big 1-2 day spurt. Some bands do shift up to 1 " side to side and possibly up and down. We usually say talk to the ortho about it if it's over an 1 " or over 1/2 " and driving you or the baby crazy. Depending on your child's asymmetry the forehead may be a key holding point and it may teeter more on the points. As said she can develop some fluid pockets during the wear of a band. na had one under the velcro. I made CT check it about every visit It went away within 2 months of graduation if not sooner. I just know it was all gone by 2 months. All that being said, you are obviously not happy and worried. I would tell them as much in a polite manner and ask for explanations. I would also get in to see them ASAP. I swore once that na had gotten worse in the back of the head. Turns out she had corrected so much that the angle on part of the flatness became more severe as it filled in. So the back of her head was filling in but it was making the " corner " look very corner like. We got out the headmold and studied it. It was clear to see she had improved greatly. Eventually the " corner " rounded. Her residual flatness is in that area. No one ever claims to round the heads 100%. Keep us posted and I hope it's just fluid and a trick of the eye. na, 2 1/2 yrs, Doc Grad Feb 04, tort resolved Kiersten, 6 months, Repo & Tort www.thefilyaws.com --- In Plagiocephaly , " zofia_2005 " <zofia_2005@y...> wrote: > > Hi everyone, > > I am just wondering if anyone has had any problems with the doc- > band. Guest guest
Thanks for your advice. I am taking her on Wednesday to have another therapist look at the band and her head. I'm curious about your children. Did any doctors give you any idea why both your children had torticollis? I'm asking because we are having another baby in June next year and I'm scared he/she will have torticollis too.
