Guest guest
Hello everyone, I was wondering, I had TMJ problems before the surgery, and was wondering if people out there who have had TMJ problems before surgery, while they did stretching exercises AFTER the surgery, did it hurt back by the ear? Of course, I will be asking my surgeon, when I see him next week, but I was just wondering if anyone else has that problem of pain while opening wide (or as wide as you possibly can) Thanks for any replies! Re: Arthrocentesis done friday-To Hey , sounds like your jaw is doing much better. Isn't 30-35mm the normal range? I think I was at 34mm when my doctor told me I could stop the stretching exercises. Hope your stomach problem clears up soon or gets diagnosed today. --Neil > > > Hi everyone, boy has this board been busy! I saw the new tmj guy > > > friday morning. Guest guest
Well, the surgeon was telling me that if they moved my lower jaw forward it " might " help with the TMJ, but they couldn't guarantee it. I was kind of hoping this surgery would fix it, so that's why I was asking, because I've read other posts that people get this surgery done to correct TMJ problems. I sure hope I don't have to have more surgery, but I'm only 24 days post op, so it may be a little soon to tell, but it does " hurt " on one side when I do the mouth stretching exercises. Thanks for the input Re: Arthrocentesis done > friday-To > > Hey , sounds like your jaw is doing much better. Isn't 30- 35mm > the normal range? Guest guest
If you had joint pain before the surgery I would think you would have it after the surgery too, unless the surgery corrected a very major problem of some sort, like a severe deformity that put some sort of pressure on the joint as teeth came together. I had TMJ surgery last year which corrected a few problems with my left joint. They do them seperatly LOU- -- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " Foley " <cinderella@s...> wrote: > Hello everyone, > I was wondering, I had TMJ problems before the surgery, and was > wondering if people out there who have had TMJ problems before surgery, > while they did stretching exercises AFTER the surgery, did it hurt back > by the ear? Guest guest
The TMJ surgery for me was a piece of cake compared to this surgery. I had my ligament shortened and stitched and the disc was reworked to fit. I wouldn't even put it in the same catagory as lower upper jaw work. If my right side was causing constant pain I would have surgery done in a heartbeat. My experience though. LOU > > > > > Hi everyone, boy has this board been busy!
