Guest guest
Hello all! Grace is in her second day in the Star helmet. I am still having a terrible time getting it off. I feel like I am going to give the poor girl whiplash, she jerks her head around so much. I have been trying to remove it in her saucer, but it seems she can wobble around too much. Not sure what else to do, but I feel terrible. Also, any suggestions on things to do with her beside hold her and walk her around my house. She used to love her bouncer seat, watching baby einstein movies and playing on the floor. Now anytime I put her in any position where something is in contact with the helmet she just cries. She especially hates lying on her back with it on. I am dreading when she has to sleep in this thing. I feel so terrible to have to do this to her. She was a colicky baby and had just begun to be a happy girl- I hate to go back to grumpy days. Any advice would be much appreciated. - Mom of Grace 6 mos. Guest guest
Hi , I would call her ortho to see if she's due for an adjustment. It just seems odd that it hurts her that much. The band should not hurt your child. Also.. I ususally take my son's band off while he's in the high chair. It works really well. Good luck! Guest guest
It's only day 2 give Grace a little more time to get used to it. She soudns like a sensitive baby Are there any indications of fit issues - lots of shifting when lying down or red spots that don't fade? Is she really hot - sweaty a lot? Is there any possibility it could be something else entirely? Has her diet changed? Is she teething? tugging on an ear? runny nose? If none of these then she may just need some time. You will get better at the taking on and off - remember undo the velcro all the way, open up wide and remove gently pulling from backto front (I find that easiest). You might bump her nose but make it a game. Try putting her on a pillow while she is awake. hang in there and keep us psoted I'll see if I can think of anything else. na, DOC Grad Feb 04 Kiersten, DOC Band 1/10/06, Tort www.thefilyaws.com/plagio/plagio.html --- In Plagiocephaly , " tvanhout " <tvanhout@...> wrote: > > Hello all! Guest guest
, My son Cameron just got his Starband helmet last Thursday March 2nd. Although we have had bad issues with him sleeping at night due to fit issues. He did adjust very quickly to wearing the helmet during the day. The first day or two he would immediately get upset when the helmet when on - even pulling at the velcro and helmet itself. Then, almost suddenly he didn't even skip a beat when we put the helmet on him. Cameron sits up pretty well on his own at 9 months, so putting the helmet has not been that difficult for us. When alone, I have put him in the high chair to aid with this at times. He still gladly plays and " runs " in his excersaucer in the helmet - although it does increase the amount he sweats while in the helmet. Best of luck. I am sure Grace will soon accept it. Guest guest
, Is she having red spots at all? Is it moving around a lot while she's laying on her back? My oldest had colic. Ugh! I think that counts as time served in purgatory. Yikes! That was hard! I hope she adjusts soon. Is she tugging at her ears or anything else? We were fortunate. Neither of our kids cared about their bands. Hopefully Grace will be like that in a few days.
